A WEEKEND WITH KREWE | VOL. 1
Every day is a celebration in New Orleans. From Saints games to Mardi Gras celebrations, our city’s inhabitants have a knack for turning every happening into an unforgettable spectacle. So we figured, why wait until tourist season kicks off to show the rest of the world what goes down in NOLA everyday?
On October 7th-9th, we hosted our first-ever ‘Weekend With KREWE’, a culturally immersive brand experience that gave press and retailers from around the world the chance to experience the magic of our city with the people who make it real every day. From Club Monaco buyers to Harper’s Bazaar
editors and local followers, every guest became members of our KREWE.
To kick off the weekend, we welcomed our out-of-town guests with courtyard cocktails and a tour of our flagship location in the heart of the Quarter on Friday evening. After a few rounds of mixed drinks, guests were treated to a late-night dinner courtesy of James Beard Award-winning chef Justin Devillier at the Ace Hotel.
Saturday included a brand immersion clinic led by founder and creative director Stirling Barrett. Press and retailers had the opportunity to learn more about KREWE while getting a firsthand look at our Fall/Winter 2016 and Spring/Summer 2017 frame collections.
After a pedicab ride through the Quarter, guests arrived at the grand entrance of 544 Esplanade (formerly known as the iconic Kingsway Mansion), where they were able to walk through the historic halls, write poetry with Cubs The Poet, and explore each decorated room. In addition to mocktails from LOA bar and po’ boys from Parkway Bakery & Tavern, attendees were treated to a live performance piece from celebrated writer Chris Rose, who explained the cultural significance of New Orleans as well as the ways this city manages to put the “fun” in “funeral.”
Sunday was a time to truly let loose. We wrapped up the weekend at Preservation Hall, with acoustic performances from our friends Tysson, Royal Teeth, Flow Tribe, and David Shaw & Zach Feinberg (The Revivalists). Attendees who were a part of our Pin Program had the opportunity to experience their favorite festival acts in the iconic performance hall while enjoying NOLA Brewery’s beer selection in the courtyard.
While the weekend was just as memorable as expected, the highlight was welcoming a new group of people to our KREWE and letting them experience the magic of New Orleans. Until next year...
